CREOLE HERITAGE DAY 2000

The Louisiana Creole Heritage Center (LCHC) will once again partner with the St. Augustine Historical Society (SAHS) in the presentation of the Creole Heritage Day in 2000.  The event will be held on Augustine Metoyer's actual birthdate of January 22nd.  This year will mark the 7th year that the Creole Heritage Day will be celebrated as a national event.

As in years past, the celebration is scheduled to be held on the grounds of St. Augustine Catholic church on Cane River.  This year, however, due to renovations of the church the mass will be said under the tent.

In an effort to maintain the presentation of a real Creole taste fest, representatives of all of the colonies will be asked to donate samples of their favorite Creole dishes.  The admission price will be waived for anyone submitting a dish.  All other activities will go on as usual.  Additional details regarding the celebration will be announced soon.
