Comments: My son attends college at NSU. We have frequently visited your city this past year, enjoying the delightful Christmas lights and the terrific Christmas festival. We plan to attend this year also. I noticed the 1999 City of Lights Christmas poster (blue night theme) while we were there. Unfortunately, every art store I visited had sold out of them. Is there a chance of purchasing one through any business there in Natchitoches? Also, the 2000 R & B Jazz Festival is on our list. Please let me know how we can get one of those posters also. Thank you for your help.

So they made my dad sign a temporary paper on me and my sister. Anyway I met my grandmother and grandfather in 1996 all of this time. Margaret La Cour who is married to my grandfather Beltrand La Cour. She is my grandmother and she was a Rachel before marrying him. My great aunt is Rena Roberts who is my grandmother sister. I have half sisters and one half brother they are Connie Felder who is on her second marriage, she graduated from Peabody Magnet High School in 1969, Judy Jones who is also on her second marriage, Sandra Carmouche who is married to Darrlel Carmouche who lives in California, Connie lives in Detroit, also Anthony LaCour who is now stationed in Atlanta with the Army. Comments: Hello, It is so nice to see a well organized page of our Creole culture. Many people I know do not believe that this is a real culture. They think I am making it up because I just do not want to call myself Black. I am proud of my heritage and am happy to see that others are also.

Comments: Hi, I am always interested in what is going on at St. Augistine Church. My mother was born on Cane River. My family and I try to stay connected to the people there and one family member try to go there at least once a year to pay our respect to her family members who are the Mullones. I live in California and long for the day to return to my mothers roots. One of our family members will be there for All Souls day to participate in the cleaning of the grave sights. Will there be a heritage day celebratioon in 2000? I would like to here from other transplanted family members in California as well as "family" from Cane River. All respect to Marie Therese Coin Coin, who planted the seed for the Metoyers, of which my mom is a descendent. Keep up the good work..

Comments: I am originally from Opelousas, LA, raised in Baton Rouge. Someone asked me today if I was Creole. I honestly did not know how to answer this person. I told him that creole was a style of cooking, then I decided to surf the net. I am really curious now. What really is a Creole? How do I define my race? Finally after 40+ years the mystery will be settled. Help!

Comments: Hey, what a great web site! I would like to know if there is anyone out there who could help me find some info on the "Olinde" name. I have very little info on my father's family. His name was Adolf Joseph Olinde. He grew up in the Baton Rouge area. He came out to Calif. after joining the Air Force in the late 1950's. He died when I was a child. I know his parents died when he was 3 yrs old and he had no brothers or sisters. He did talk of aunts/uncles who raised him, but I was too young to remember much. Any help whould be greatly appreciated.

Comments: Corrections to Creole definition from Creoles are persons who lived in La. prior to 1807, to Creoles are persons still living in America and all over the world. Also not only having cultural traits of Africans, French, Native American Indians and Spanish but also many have other Eureopean ancestors and also have their bloodlines. The definition was started here in La. when France & Spain held the La. Territory and also defined their descendants in other part of the world as Creoles, native born, and not born on their home soil.
