| Dear Friends, As president of the
St. Augustine Historical Society, I would like to take this opportunity to appeal for your
support of our efforts in the preservation of the Creole heritage and Culture. You
may do this by becoming a member and joining the society
today.
The St. Augustine Historical Society has been responsible
for many notable accomplishments concerned with the preservation of the Creole heritage
and culture. Many of these accomplishments were completed with little or no funds
and a host of volunteer time. The society and its responsibilities has grown
tremendously over the past few years and we need your support to continue in our efforts.
We have successfully presented the annual National Creole
Heritage Day Celebration for the past 7 years; provided the guiding force and necessary
support in the establishment of the Louisiana Creole Heritage Center at the local
university; provided a national presence through the development of this website;
requested and received grants to help document and promote the Creole culture; and
continually work towards the restoration and preservation of the Badin Roque House, a
significant structure which is representative of Creole history and culture due to
its construction, ownership and past uses
Despite these laudable accomplishments, and perhaps
because of them, our organization is in dire need of additional funding to continue our
efforts. You can become a part of these efforts and aid us by becoming a member and
getting your family and friends to join. The membership fee to join the St.
Augustine Historical Society is just $10/year per person. For your convenience,
there is application form online which you can print out,
complete and mail with your check to the address shown. We also encourage individual
contributions in any form. The contributions will be acknowledged.
We appreciate your help and support as evidenced by the
many communications we receive applauding our efforts. This is your opportunity to
help these efforts and write ourselves into the history books. Please pass this
