Creole Genealogy

GENERAL DATA
Genealogical research in Louisiana largely depends upon time and area in which your ancestor lived. No official birth or death records were kept here until AFTER 1914.  Therefore, you will have to depend upon census, municipal, courthouse, and (if your ancestors were Catholic) church records.
Through ongoing work with the Creole Center the society is contributing to many databases of information that enhance the Creole genealogy search.

NOTE:
A great source of information is the GUESTBOOK created by this site.  Many individuals have posted info regarding their families and location origins of many family names.  Also, don't miss the Creole Family History Conference to be held July 21 & 22, 2000.
